Important News from Kinship Center
Thank you for your continued support of Kinship Center and the children, families, and communities we serve.
We are excited to bring you an update about our organization. As you may know, in 2011, Kinship Center merged with Seneca Family of Agencies, a non-profit specializing in children’s mental health, education, permanency for children, and juvenile justice services in California and the state of Washington. The merger has allowed us to share our expertise in different areas of service to children and families, and to bring a fuller continuum of care to benefit all our communities.
Beginning January 1, 2023, Kinship Center will transition to using Seneca Family of Agencies as our official name. The change will not impact our programs, and the services we provide to children and families on the Central Coast will remain the same.
All donations- including grants, sponsorships, individual and organizational donations—will stay right here in our Central Coast programs, as they always have.
Since the 2011 merger, Kinship Center and Seneca Family of Agencies have been one and the same. The rebranding serves to standardize the continuity of our identity as an agency. Using one name, Seneca, allows us to create clarity as it pertains to the children and families we serve.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or would like more information. We will continue to keep you updated on our important work in the community. We look forward to your continued partnership.
With gratitude,
Dawn Henson, Regional Executive Director, Seneca Family of Agencies
What does this mean for Gabilan Chapter Kinship Center?
As Dawn Henson states, this is a name change only and will not impact their programs, and the services they provide to children and families on the Central Coast. Since the 2011 merger, Kinship Center and Seneca Family of Agencies have been one and the same and have been able to provide a fuller continuum of care to benefit our communities.
This name change only also applies to Gabilan Chapter. As of January 1, 2023, we will transition to Gabilan Chapter Seneca Family of Agencies. All funds raised through our annual Wine & Food Tasting will remain in San Benito County. We will continue with our fundraising efforts to provide resources and support to children and families in San Benito County, including foster care, adoption and mental health services.
Seneca Family of Agencies was founded in 1985 as a small Bay Area residential and day treatment program with a simple but powerful mission: to help children and families through the most difficult times of their lives. Since then, Seneca has expanded to provide a broad continuum of permanency, mental health, education, and juvenile justice services, which today reach over 18,000 youth and families throughout California and Washington State each year.
