Gabilan Chapter Seneca held their first meeting of the year with a dinner at Paine’s Restaurant in January. President Chris Breen welcomed the new Board and thanked Kathy Tiffany for her services as President in 2023.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the check for $90,000 to Seneca. These are funds that were raised from the 2023 Wine & Food Tasting and will be used to continue to support the services provided by Seneca in San Benito County, including the expansion of the Hollister office.

Seneca is dedicated to building and strengthening families for children through vital community services including foster care adoption, relative caregiver support, children’s mental health and wraparound services, legal guardianship assistance, and parent and professional education.

With an additional portion of the proceeds from the Wine & Food Tasting, Gabilan Chapter was also able to award grants to local non-profits with like-minded missions. The following grants were given:

$5,000 to CASA of San Benito County to support foster children

$5,000 to Hollister YMCA for their youth programs

$2,500 to Emmaus House to help fund their mental health specialist for children

$1,000 to Sunstreet Center to support their mental health program for children

$1,000 to Cooper’s Calling to support their services to help our youth

$1,500 to United Way Stuff the Bus for backpacks for foster children
